MESA, AZ (CBS5) - In Mesa, a man was inside a Walmart bathroom when a bullet struck just a few feet from the urinal where he was standing.

"Last thing that you'd expect is for a gunshot to go off, go right through the stall door while you're doing your business if you will," said Sgt. Ed Wessing from the Mesa Police Department

The big bullet traveled right through the metal door, ricocheted off the wall and took out a light fixture up above, then struck the floor only a few feet from where the victim was standing. He was pretty shaken up about it.

If only I could have posted a sketch of this scene, it would be hilarious! If you have trouble going, this is surely one way to get it moving on out! watch video.............

He was standing at the urinal. There would have been less of a mess to clean up if he'd been sitting on a toilet.

hilarious! glad no one got hurt.

CBS 5 News visited Seals at his Phoenix home Monday night, but he didn't want to talk about the incident.

"I'm sure he was embarrassed. Certainly we feel that he was reckless in safeguarding that firearm and causing it to discharge," Wessing said.

The Mesa Police Department plans to file an endangerment charge against Seals. It will be up to prosecutors to decide how they wish to proceed.

"More guns equals less crime." That's all I ever hear. But this is just proof that more guns simply means more armed dip@!$%#s per capita.

Oh great, another story where one person was careless and the anti-gunners start yelling about how unsafe guns are. What a load of crap. The gun owner was irresponsible. The gun had a round chambered and he did not have it properly secured. He is lucky nobody died, and he should be subject to an endangerment charge. But that does not mean that owning guns is bad or dangerous, just that this idiot should not be carrying one.

Maybe we should look at the laws that allow idiots to own guns.

Or to paraphrase that old chestnut, "Guns don't leave a round chambered. Idiots do."

And, as demonstrated, a gun owned by an idiot IS unsafe.

So guns don't kill people, idiots kill people...That I can live with as a slogan.

You see the problem is all those warning labels on products. Used to be they did not live to an age that they could actually acquire and use a gun. They would blow dry their hair in the tub, or put bags over their heads, but thanks to all the warnings they live too long these days. Maybe we need "Warning Label Control". LOL!

As far as warning labels go, I think it enables the gene pool to remain relatively shallow. It is abhorrent to natural selection.[sarc]

Yeah, that's kind of one of the spin offs of living in a free society. The probability of being waxed by a random bonehead is ever present.......

The problem with viewing this as an example of natural selection is that it didn't almost kill the idiot responsible. It almost killed the poor schmuck at the urinal. How would an idiot's negligence causing his death be an example of natural selection? Answer: it wouldn't.

So, we are back to square one. Let's make the odds of dying due to an idiots mistake a little longer. Fewer guns means fewer idiots with guns. Capiche?

douglas:

Howdy. Well, natural selection wasn't really my point. My point was that living in a free society is inherently a very dangerous sit rep. It is, more or less, the price you pay for not being a serf. I am a fine and jolly peasant myself. I'd hate to have to put vassal on my resume. Wait a minute. I don't have a resume. Anyhow, you get the rub.

I respectfully disagree with your last statement in as much as I think the collective the liberty of the proletariat far exceeds the safety issue.

best hurled in your general direction.....

Respectfully Tex,

that's libertarian bull@!$%#. There are all kinds of laws that govern our every day safety and that infringe on your individual freedom and that are probably responsible for you being alive today. For some reason, people seem to think guns should be treated differently.

My point was that he would not have made it this far if we did not fiddle with natural selection by putting warnings on everything known to man. I got a plastic tube that holds a poster...you know the long skinny ones, anyways it says, "Do not put over head." Really? If you can get your head in that, then you have more problems than just the bag. But things like the "Do not use in Shower" warning on the blow dryer, and toaster really irk me. These are the idiots we are trying to get rid of. Inevitably they are going to hurt someone else, so the loss of them early is no surprise and should be left to the fates as it may be.

I understand that some of you have police crawling throughout your cities like roaches, but in the middle of America the average response time is 30 minutes, so I guess we can call the police, so they know where to find our bodies in your opinion. As far as I am concerned that is not acceptable. The 2nd ammendment was put there so that our nation would never believe they could trample us underfoot. We are armed, and therefore our Nation must respect our opinions to some very small extent. You can look worldwide at the statistics and removing guns does not by any means stop crime, and it does not even deter it. I would also love to hear someone tell me that they would honestly feel safer if only Law Enforcement have guns. How often do you turn on your TV to see LEO's abusing their authority and power. What a wonderful world that would be.
