With their unemployment-insurance checks running out, some of the country's long-term jobless are scrambling to fill the gap by filing claims for mental illness and other disabilities with Social Security -- a surge that hobbles taxpayers and makes the employment rate look healthier than it should as these people drop out of the job statistics
The other side of the coin that politicians keep quiet about.

A large central Illinois SS office has a big, loud armed guard. The waiting room filled with under 30 year old women with children, who were applying for disability - I was told. And this was in an era of financial prosperity.
Detroit had funny money, where children were well coached to behave just so when interviewed by counselors who determined their handicapped status.

These report , some have gone on disability, but it is extremely difficult and take years to get.

I certainly hope we don't see a bunch of lazies proclaiming mental disorder. Should we expect their kids to stay at home or go nuts with them?

I may file a claim due to frustration. Should be something for satisfaction, just to be fair to everyone.
