(New York Post) - Standing too many months on the unemployment line is driving Americans crazy -- literally -- and it is costing taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars

The Desert Rattler

With their unemployment-insurance checks running out, some of the country's long-term jobless are scrambling to fill the gap by filing claims for mental illness and other disabilities with Social Security -- a surge that hobbles taxpayers and makes the employment rate look healthier than it should as these people drop out of the job statistics

The other side of the coin that politicians keep quiet about.

Just another example on how our "elected servants" are giving away the store.

A large central Illinois SS office has a big, loud armed guard. The waiting room filled with under 30 year old women with children, who were applying for disability - I was told. And this was in an era of financial prosperity.

Detroit had funny money, where children were well coached to behave just so when interviewed by counselors who determined their handicapped status.

MJL-3,

If you would note, this was from The New York Post, and picked up by FOX. You can go to The New York Post and read the entire article. Everyone interprets what is said or written differently.

As Soph0571 says.

Don't dismiss a good idea simply because you don't like the source

But always get a second opinion.

I certainly hope we don't see a bunch of lazies proclaiming mental disorder. Should we expect their kids to stay at home or go nuts with them?

I may file a claim due to frustration. Should be something for satisfaction, just to be fair to everyone.
