Just the aromatic scent of the cinnamon in the air, is quite refreshing. As the lily opens further and the stamens become mature, the full star of the lily becomes apparent. It is truly an amazing, and beautiful lily with an intoxicating aroma, unlike any other.
I first became acquainted with this flower quite by accident. I was having troubling times, nothing but bad news; and my hubby asked if there was anything that he could get me? My reply, "yes, I would like some flowers". Nothing expensive nor fancy, just a flower or two. At one time I grew research roses for Jackson & Perkins, so he knew that I loved roses. I love cacti, but I also love flowers. So I was hoping that maybe I would be receiving a rose from by hubby. He came home from work on a Friday night, with one arm behind his back. Bent down and gave me a kiss, ( I was lying on the couch); he took this most gorgeous wrapped bouquet of flowers from behind his back and handed it to me. I sat straight up, and with tears streaming down my face, I managed a big smile or two, and said "thank you for caring".
This is a photo of that bouquet. He has gotten me a stem or bunch since, but I will never forget this particular first Starlight Lily. He now will try to get stems with unopened buds on them. Just two stems can have many buds, and are very large once fully opened. There have been some surprises. There have been white ones with maroon edges, pink ones, and yellow ones. So, in closing just close your eyes and enjoy the sweet aroma of my Starlight Lily.
